Maine Woods Discovery offered standards-based, cooperative regional marketing that has established a recognized and respected brand for top quality outdoor recreation experiences in the Maine Woods.
Over the past several years, this standards-based cooperative marketing program generated roughly $2 million in marketing value for it’s endorsed tourism providers and the Maine Woods region. The twelve endorsed providers included some of Maine’s most sought after and respected outfitters and resorts, offering paddling, hiking, fishing, biking, rafting, wildlife watching and in the wintertime dogsledding, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
Maine Woods Discovery worked with its partners to ensure that every trip to the Maine Woods exceeded expectations.
In 2014, Maine Woods Discovery partners organized and lead a group of local outfitters, Thoreau scholars, and members of the Penobscot Nation on a 300-mile canoe expedition to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Henry David Thoreau’s classic work The Maine Woods.
