The Maine Woods Consortium is offering a new program to build destination development capacity in high potential Rural Destination Areas.

The Community Destination Academy (CDA) combines a 4 to 6-part professionally-led workshop series with direct financial and technical assistance to support the implementation of local destination development projects.

The Consortium is piloting the Community Destination Academy in the Moosehead Lake are with a four-part training series that includes:

— Creating Memorable Visitor Experiences with Joe Veneto, Opportunities Unlimited
— Finding the Money: Destination Financing for NGOs, Towns, and Businesses
— Selling Your Story: Destination Marketing with Nancy Marshall Communications
— How Teams Get Things Done: Turning Plans into Action with the Ward-Green Group

CDA participants will work together through the summer to implement a local project that advances local destination development goals. The CDA program will wrap up in fall 2018 with two additional training workshops tailored to the needs and interests of the local training cohort.
