Join the Maine Center for Economic Policy and
Ross Eisenbrey, Vice-President of the Economic Policy Institute, for a
stimulating morning discussion on pending state and federal initiatives
including minimum wage legislation and the Employee Free Choice Act. Keynote
speaker Ross Eisenbrey is a lawyer and former commissioner of the U.S.
Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. He is one of the key advisors
to the new administration on economic and labor market issues. Panelists on
federal initiatives to promote a middle class recovery include: William Murphy,
UMaine Bureau of Labor Education; Matt Beck, IBEW; Vanessa Sylvester, Maine
Nurse's Association and Professor Lydia Savage of USM. Panelists on state
initiatives to improve income security include: Commissioner Laura Fortman,
Maine Department of Labor; Mike Sylvester, MSEA/SEIU organizing director; Chris
Hastedt, Maine Equal Justice and Roy Gedat of the Maine Personal Assistants
Association.
