Managing Your Woodlot - Tree Identification and Forest Management Planning Print

A six-session “Working with Your Woodlot” class will be held at the Somerset County Cooperative Extension office, off the Back Road in Skowhegan. The dates and topics include:

April 15 - Tree Identification and Forest Management Planning (part of this class will be outside)
April 22 - Map, Compass and GPS Skills (part of this class might be outside)
April 29 -  Tree Growth Tax Law, Tree Farm Program, Certification and Cost Share Programs for the Woodland Owner
May 6 - Managing for Wildlife, and Silviculture Explained (the art and science of growing trees)
May 13 - Legal Aspects of Forest Management, MFS, DEP and LURC regulations explained
May 20 - Working with a Consulting Forester and Professional Logger

To pre-register for the six classes at a reduced cost of $35 for the entire series, or $25 for SWOAM members, send check or money order to Somerset County SWCD, 12 High St., Skowhegan, ME 04976. Pre-registration deadline is April 13. The cost for non-registered attendees is $45, payable April 15 at the Cooperative Extension office.
