The Maine Canoe Symposium is a volunteer-run, nonprofit weekend event held annually that allows participants of all ages to develop an understanding and appreciation of  the diversity of North American canoeing heritage and to develop canoeing and related skills through educational workshops, presentations, and hands-on instruction.

Friday Evening Presentation: Canoe USA with Jim and Lisa Lisius
In February 1993 Jim and Lisa started a journey on the Pacific Ocean that lasted 15 months and spanned 5,100 miles as they paddled and portaged their way across the river highways of America. Come share the sights and stories of how the trip changed their lives, their relationship, and their view of the world.

Saturday Evening: 25 Years of the Maine Canoe Symposium, Looking Back and Looking Ahead with The Peake Brothers

Perennial Maine Canoe Symposium favorite Michael Peake and the Hideaway Canoe Club will feature a special look back and look ahead, celebrating 25 years of MCS!

Children's Programs
We offer canoeing, outdoor skills, living history activities, hikes, swimming, games, a climbing wall, arts and crafts, and time to just play, all under the pines of Winona.

Workshops
There are two types of workshops, on-land and on-water. All workshops run 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. There are two workshops sessions Saturday morning, two on Saturday afternoon, and two more on Sunday morning. Also, there are sometimes early morning workshops that begin at 6:30 a.m. Each session usually features eight to twelve different workshops on various topics. There are always interesting things to do and learn.
